Former President Waheed has given speech at the U.N about climate change

The former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan has given a speech at the United Nations about climate change.

Speaking at the U.N’s Socialist International Council, President Waheed highlighted the dangers facing the Maldives due to climate change. He also spoke about the things to be decided at United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21) in Paris.

President Waheed attended the council at the request of the Socialist International. The Socialist International consists of over 100 political parties.

Aside from President Waheed, the Deputy Secretary General of U.N. Jan Eliasson and the Administrator of UNDP, Helen Clark also spoke at the council.

The topics of discussions at the council includes, national security, sustainable development and climate change.
