Family: Protection for the Vice President and family has ended

The family of Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the security being provided by the MNDF for the Vice President and his family has ended.

A family member of Vice President Dr. Jameel told Sun Media tonight that since the Vice President left for London on 28 June, the MNDF has the stopped the security being provided for the Vice President and his wife.

“Since the day Jameel left for London, security or travel wasn’t given. The drivers aren’t there either now.” A member of the family said.

Dr. Jameel’s wife and three children are currently at Hilaaleege. The family says that although personal security is not being provided, the house is being kept secured.

Three bodyguards were assigned to Dr. Jameel before and two bodyguards for his wife.

There has been no response from the Media Official of MNDF regarding the issue.

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali said that any response regarding the matter would come from MNDF.

MPs supporting the government have sent a motion of No Confidence against Vice President Jameel to the Parliament to remove him from power. And they sent the 14-day notice to the Vice President.

Vice President Jameel is currently in London. He said that removing him from power is a “coup being carried out through the Constitution.”
