Education Ministry has ordered schools to stop all of their extracurricular activities since some schools are conducting them although the schools have been closed due to the recent Dengue Fever outbreak.
State Minister of the Education Ministry, Ahmed Shafeeu said that although the schools have been closed these days, some schools have been conducting extracurricular activities without the Ministry’s approval and they have been calling those schools to stop them.
“When we get such reports, we are calling the schools to try and stop them.” Shafeeu said.
He said that the Ministry has given permission to conduct specific types of activities. And so the permissions have been given to activities that do not require a lot of children to take part at the same time, like Quran competitions.
“The permission has not been given to hold regular extracurricular activities.” Shafeeu said.
Although the schools are closed, studies have been arranged for students preparing for the GCE O’Level examination.
The government closed all the schools indefinitely last Wednesday in an effort to control the spread of Dengue Fever.
