Schools closed starting tomorrow

As part of the steps being taken to combat recent Dengue Fever outbreak, the government has decided to close the all the schools, including preschools.

At the press conference held by President Abdulla Yamin’s special task force to combat Dengue Fever, Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Shihaam said that the schools are to be closed indefinitely.

Minister Shihaam said that even though the schools would be closed, special classes would be arranged for students studying for the O’ Level exmas.

“We’re saying that all the schools from kindergarten to Grade 12 would be closed across the country. But out of those, for students studying for international exams, for students going to do O’ Level, special arrangements would be made through the schools.” Minister said.

Since the schools are being closed due to Dengue Fever, the Education Minister said that anything about the reopening of the schools can be said after a change comes to the situation
