A seven-month old has died from Dengue Fever

A seven-month old baby has died from Dengue Fever in B. Eydhafushi.

An official from Thulhaadhoo Health Center told Sun Media tonight that the child died around 6 p.m. today in the ER of Eydhafushi Hospital while undergoing treatment.

A relative of the child said that the child had a fever for three days and has been going to the doctor regularly. The family said that the child was taken to a doctor previously and again today around 11 p.m. And again this evening when the condition got worse.

The family also said that when the baby was taken to the hospital this evening, they started on the oxygen and moved to Eydhafushi Hospital under the doctor’s advice.

The Dengue Fever has been spreading rapidly in the Maldives. While a foreigner died of the fever last week in G.A Kooddoo, a pregnant woman died of the fever at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital as well.

Government institutes have now started working together to control the Dengue Fever.
