Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has removed 68 lorries full of trash, dumped in violation of regulations, from the streets of Malé.
The ministry said that 50 staff and 12 vehicles were employed in the operation.
Earlier, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu accused opposition groups of dumping garbage on the streets after the government commenced efforts to maintain cleanliness in Malé.

A joint project was launched on Sunday by Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, Ministry of Environment and Energy, Maldives Police Service, and several public companies, to provide the service of garbage disposal after spring-cleaning - a common practice ahead of Ramadan - from houses of Malé .
Dr Muizzu said yesterday that this project had been completed and the government will not be responsible for the additional trash being placed on the streets.
