Chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Mohamed Aseel has said that sexual harassment will not be tolerated in the organisation.
This comes following reports of a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female employee of HDC.
Aseel said that sexual harassment in the workplace is unacceptable and action will be taken as allowed by relevant laws, against perpetrators.
He condemned the actions of the suspected employee and said that the government has a no-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment.
Meanwhile, a member of the HDC Board said that instead of taking action against the Human Resources (HR) Director suspected of making unwanted sexual advances against a female employee, the management had dismissed the female employee.
Following this, the Board decided unanimously during a meeting chaired by Aseel, to reinstate the female employee, the Board member told Sun Online.
He said that the Board had also decided to reinstate the organisation's former Assistant Director, who had served the company for 13 years, and former Secretary, who were both dismissed in violation of procedures.
He added that action had been taken against the HR Director accused of sexual harassment.
The sexual harassment victim told Sun Online that she was happy that the case was under investigation.
