Traveller

The Traveller’s Market has been officially reopened after renovations in a colorful ceremony tonight by the Attorney General, Mohamed Anil.

Government ministers and officials took part in the opening ceremony held In front of the market including the Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muiz, Defence Minister, Moosa Ali Jaleel, Home Minister, Umar Naseer, Foreign Minister, Dhunya Maumoon, Fisheries Minister, Mohamed Shainee, Youth Minister, Ahmed Zuhoor, Islamic Minister, Ahmed Ziyad Baagir and the Education Minister Aishath Shihaam.

The MP for Vili-Maafannu constituency and the Leader of the PPM’s Parliamentary Group, Ahmed Nihaan Hussain Manik also took part in tonight’s ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, AG Anil said that changes have been brought to the market for good making it easier for the customers and the salesmen asking all those who use the place to take care for the cleanliness of the place.

AG Anil said that when the City Council was established, an MDP government was in power and could not develop the Market.

The new Traveller’s Market has a four feet wall built around the place with a five feet aluminum fence on top of it. The market contains 160 slots for sellers.

Housing Ministry says that business would start at the Traveller’s Market tomorrow.
