The A.A. Bodufulhadhoo Council has decided to pay half of the electricity bill from the houses of the island this Ramadan.
Last year, the Island Council paid the entire electricity bill of the island.
The President of the Bodufulhadhoo Council, Sujaau Adam told Sun Media today that the council has decided to pay half of the electricity bill from the 75 houses in the island of a population with 752 and it would cost MVR 110,000.
“This island has a STELCO powerhouse. And the council would pay half of the electricity bill of every house in Ramadan. Those bills are paid with the Council’s income.” Councilor Sujaau said.
The Bodufulhadhoo Council has the majority of the governing political party, PPM. The council consists of three PPM councilors and two JP councilors.
