An Amendment Bill to the Civil Service Act has been submitted to the parliament, seeking to push retirement age from 55 to 60.
The bill, submitted by Hulhu-Henveyru MP Reeko Moosa Manik, states that retirees should receive the Pension Retirement Benefit as prescribed in the Pension Act.
Moosa Manik said that the main reason for this amendment is that presently, according to the the Pension Act, although the retirement age stated in is 55, Pension Retirement Benefit is not provided until 65.
The Civil Service Act was passed in 2007.
