Three arrested for theft in Shangri-La Resort

Three staff members have been arrested for stealing from a jewellery shop in Shangri-La’s Vilingili Resort and Spa.

The police spokesperson said that the suspects, all Maldivian, are a 36-year old man and two 26-year-old men.

The court has given them remand periods of 15 days.

Sources have told Sun Online that several valuable pieces of jewellery were stolen, but this could not be confirmed as Shangri-La Resort was not available for a comment at the time of publication.

In a separate incident, an employee of Shangri-La Resort was arrested one month ago for fraud involving $68,000.

Both cases are under investigation by the police.
