Police starts investigating a danger against a witness against Athif

Police have started an investigating into a threatening against a witness who is going to testify against Athif Rasheed who released today by the Criminal Court in the murder of Mohamed Aruham.

Sources say that the threat case was reported to the Police days before Athif was released. The report to the Police says that the names of the witnesses against Athif were leaked through the Criminal Court. Sources say that some evidence was presented to the Police to prove it. And the Police is now providing protection to the witness.

Athif Rasheed how has been charged with first degree murder was released earlier today before his trial ended.

The Media Official of the Criminal Court said that Athif was released because there was no reason to keep him in custody any more.

After the family of Athif Rasheed sent a letter unhappy about how the trial is progressing, Judge Muhthaaz Fahumee has been replaced with Judge Abdulla Didi.

Police has requested the PG’s Office to appeal the release of Athif at the High Court.
