Former Defense Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim who has been sentenced to 11 years in prison is starting his appeal process on 21 June.

Sources say that Nazim’s appeal hearing has been scheduled at the High Court. Although the High Court cases are handled by three judges, Nazim’s case would be handled by five judges.

Last Tuesday, High Court held an preliminary hearing to inform both sides how the appeal process would move forward.

Colonel-retired Nazim was sentenced to 11 years in prison on 27 March after he was found guilty of possession of a firearm.
