Yellow Alert issued between Faafu atoll and Addu

MET Office has issued a Yellow Alert between Faafu atoll and Addu regarding the heavy rains to the country.

A Yellow Alert is issued if the winds are between 30 - 40 miles an hour.

An official from the MET Office told Sun Media that bad weather is expected across the country in the next 24 hours especially to the atolls between Faafu atoll and Addu. The Yellow Alert to the area was issued this morning at 8 a.m.

“It’s bad weather across the country. Yellow Alert was issued because we believe the weather between Faafu and Seenu (Addu) atolls are worse.” Official said.

He said that in the next 24 hours, seas are expected to be rough and the winds are expected to be 13 – 23 miles an hour.

The three main alerts from the MET Office are White, Yellow and Red. White is for winds between 23 – 30 miles an hour. Yellow is for winds between 30 – 40 miles an hour while Red is for extreme weather.
