Imran appeals court order to keep him in custody for the trial

The court order to keep the President of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, who has been charged with terrorism, in Police custody for the duration of his trial has been appealed in High Court.

Sheikh Imran’s lawyer, Husnu Suood told Sun Media today that documents were presented to the Criminal Court yesterday for the appeal.

Sheikh Imran was ordered to remain in Police Custody for the duration of his trial on the hearing on Tuesday night.

Chief Judge on the bench, Judge Abdulla Didi said that Sheikh Imran was ordered in to Police Custody after reviewing the Police Intelligence Report and from the type of charge against him, he could be a danger to public safety.
