Leader of MDA, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has said that even if the opposition tried to bring any harm to religion or the Maldivian culture, the government would not allow such a thing to be done.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tarmac project of the roads in Kudahuvadhoo yesterday, Siyam said that the government is trying to protect the Islamic faith in Maldives and every individual citizen has to work to protect the religion.
Describing that national independence as the priceless national treasure, Siyam said that a party that ruled the country previously is trying to take away that independence. He indicated that it was the main opposition party, MDP.
Siyam, who is also the MP for Meedhoo constituency, said that while some people are working against our independence, they also working against the impede government efforts in development of the country. And so the higher officials of MDP have tried to boycott the Maldivian tourism, says Siyam and that stands in the way of national development.
Noting that thinking like that is bad thinking, Siyam called the MDP supporters to join PPM/MDA government.
