Prayer room at Velaanaage reopens on the 12th floor

The prayer room on the fourth floor at Velaanaage, a building with numerous government offices, has been reopened on the 12th floor today.

The new prayer room was opened today close to the Asr prayer today by the Islamic Minister, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Bagir and the Minister of Toursim and the co- chair of Economic and Youth Council, Ahmed Adheeb.

After opening the prayer room, Minister Adheeb said that the prayer room was moved to the 12thy floor to establish an office for the special economic zone (SEZ) at it’s previous location on the fourth floor.

Minister Adheeb also said that opening the new prayer room with the capacity of 53 people would be a great ease to the staff working in the offices at Velaanaage during the month of Ramadan.

The prayer room constructed by the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) run under the Ministry of Tourism includes ablution facilities and lockers to keep prayer clothes.

After the opening ceremony, some government officials including the Tourism Minister Adheeb, Islamic Minister Dr. Ziyad, Defense Minister Moosa Ali Jaleel prayed at the new prayer room.

The Imam at the Asr prayer today at the prayer room on the 12th floor of Velaanaage was the Islamic Minister, Dr. Ziyad.
