Judge replaced in the murder of Aruham

The Judge presiding over the case in the murder of the Dharumavantha School student, Mohamed Aruham who was murdered in Lorenzo Park in 2012 has been replaced.

Starting today, Judge Abdulla Didi has replaced Judge Muhuthaaz Fahumee in the case.

Sources say that the judge was replaced when a family member of one of the defendants requested the change.

The state has charged Mohamed Sufuyan (G.Dh. Gaddhoo), Athif Rasheed (Male’), Mohamed Visam (L. Maavah) and Mansoor Yousuf (L. Maavah) with the murder of Aruham on 29 May 2012.

A different defense lawyer arrived at the hearing today. The defense lawyer requested that the defendants be moved to house arrest since they have been in Police custody for a long time.

Regarding the matter, the state prosecutor said that the state wants them to remain in Police custody.

Witness testimonies from both the prosecution and the defense have been presented previously.

All of the close relatives of Aruham wants the death sentence.
