Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir has said that the true founder of Dh. Meedhoo harbor is Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed.
Amir made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of Meedhoo harbor held in Meedhoo.
Amir said that Ahmed Siyam Mohamed made various efforts through the Parliament and outside the Parliament, to make Meedhoo harbor a reality. Now that the harbor is complete, all praise should rightfully go to Siyam.
Dh. Atoll Council President Ismail Saeed said that Meedhoo harbor was constructed by the government, and no money was spent on it by any private person. He also noted Siyam’s efforts in making it a reality, and thanked Siyam and the government. He expressed hope to commence reclamation work in Meedhoo next year, with the cooperation of the two Dhaalu atoll MPs.
Both Amir and Ismail Saeed stated in their speeches that the current government is legitimate.
Ismail Saeed told Sun in an interview after the ceremony that Meedhoo harbor was a dream that Siyam had had for many years, and that it had become a reality as a result of several sacrifices made by him. He noted that Siyam sacrificed several political votes at the Parliament for the sake of the harbor.
“No other person worked even half as hard as Siyam did in making this a reality. This is a fact that cannot be denied or concealed. The true founder of the harbor is no one other than Siyam,” Ismail said.
In an interview with Sun after the ceremony, Dh. Atoll Council Meedhoo member Moosal Mustafa expressed his deepest gratitude to MP Siyam. He noted that in addition to the harbor, Siyam works on every issue related to the island as though he himself was a citizen of the island. Siyam had never denied requests made by island citizens, even if the requests are made at times which are demanding in terms of business or otherwise.
“I would say that no atoll in the Maldives has an MP as kind as Siyam. We should all be thankful for that. Meedhoo citizens recognize that,” Mustafa said.
