MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed has been released from Police custody after he was arrested on 1 May accused of encouraging conflict and confrontation between protestors and security forces.
Media Official of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Ahmed Hishan Wajeeh told Sun Media today that the Prosecutor General informed the Police that there is no objection to the release of Ali Waheed.
Although he has been released, PG Office says that the case pending against him is being researched to decide to pursue prosecution or not.
While Ali Waheed has been released, the JP Deputy Leader who was arrested in the same charge has been released previously under High Court’s order.
Leader of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla and the Foreign and Public Relations of Jumhooree Party, Sobah Rasheed still remain in Police custody.
PG has appealed the release of Ameen at the Supreme Court.
