Fund raising telethon

“United with Nepal” telethon organised by the Maldivian Red Crescent and Maldives Medical Association joined by the Medias in the Maldives has begun.

The telethon started at 12:30 p.m. and would continue at the TVM studio till 12 a.m. TV channels in the country would be broadcasted live across the country.

“The most emergency needs over there now are emergency healthcare and shelter. There is no way to start the work there, so at the moment, financial aid can be sent.” An official from the event said.

Aside from TV, the telethon would be covered by online media and radio in the country.

As part of the telethon, donation boxes would be places in different parts of the city from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The donation boxes are place at the Raalhugandu area, Biliabong International High School, Sun Front bus stop, Carnival area, Local Market area, TVM courtyard, ADK hospital, IGM hospital Senehiya and Medica area.

The Red Crescent fundraising event to help Nepal is planned to continue from 26 - 27 May.

A charity football match organized with the help of FAM would take place at 4 p.m. today. The charity match would feature a team from parliament and the veteran’s team. The prices for the tickets are MVR 25, MVR 500 and MVR 1000. Tickets are available from the National stadium and various café’s in the city.

And a family evening is scheduled to be hosted at the Raalhugandu area.

To donate to the charity fund, the BML account 7701-176022-001 for MVR and account 7701-176022-002 for USD are available. And to donate via Islamic Bank, account 9901-01-55500036-100 for MVR and account 9901-01-55500036-200 for USD are available.

Donations also can be made via mobile SMS for Prepaid users. Oooredoo customers can donate MVR 20, 50, 100 or 500 by sending an SMS to 501. And Dhiraagu customers can donate by dialing *789*3# and donate MVR 20, 50, 100 or 500.
