Alifushi warehouse destroyed in fire

A boat construction warehouse has been destroyed in a fire in Raa Alifushi.

The fire broke out at around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, and was not controlled until around 4:30 a.m., according to the island council.

The warehouse belongs to Alifushi citizen Abdul Rahman Yoosuf.

No one was hurt and no property other than the warehouse was damaged.

President of Alifushi Council Ahmed Mohamed told Sun Online that the warehouse contained a large stock of goods, and the owner would face a great loss due to this incident.

He said that the 30 x 30 foot warehouse had a tin roof, and contained goods used for construction of boats.

The only items that could be saved from the fire were two used pumps, said Mohamed.

The warehouse does not have electricity, and there is no security guard.

The case is under investigation by the police.
