Minister of Housing, Dr. Mohamed Muiz has said that the opposition is trying to mislead the public saying that the bridge between Male’ and Hulhumale’ cannot be constructed and this government would construct the bridge.
Speaking at TVM’s “Raaje Miadhu” program, Minister Muiz said that while the surveys and borehole needed for the bridge is being drilled, opposition is saying that the bridge won’t be constructed.
“We notice that opposition is trying to mislead the people. Saying that the decision to build the bridge or not has not been made. That we are not trying to build and haven’t decided that it can be done, that this is just a research. So I say that the decision to build the bridge has been made. That phase has been completed. So we there won’t be debate to build the bridge or not. With god’s will, the bridge would be made.” Minister Muiz said.
Minister said that important surveys to build the bridge are ongoing at the moment. And when the borehole drilling that started today is complete, the foundation project would move forward.
At the inauguration ceremony of the borehole drilling this morning at the Tsunami monument, Minister Muiz said that a detail plan would be presented and tendering process would begin in China in the next month and the construction of the bridge would begin at the end of the year.
Total 29 boreholes would be drilled 50 meters deep to construct the bridge.
