Finance Minister to be questioned in Parliament Financial Committee

Financial Committee in the parliament decided to question Minister of Finance since Maldives Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has complained that the Minister denied giving the budget allocated for them.

Speaker of Financial Committee Ahmed Nazim said today that the committee has decided to question Finance Minister Inaz in a meeting scheduled for 11:45 tomorrow. He also said that the committee members saw that it is better to ask the Minister face to face, why he denied releasing the allocated budget.

“They (MBC members) say that their salary is given, but since it is an institution established by a law, Finance ministry has to give the allocated budget for administrative expenses and other expenses,” said Mr. Nazim.

He said that MBC has brought the matter in to the committee’s awareness on 10th of May this year. Mr. Nazim said that still it is not decided whether the meeting should be closed or open. Committee will decide that in the meeting itself, said Mr. Nazim.
