The government of Saudi Arabia has granted $2 million to the Maldives.
This was announced this morning by Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr Mohamed Shainee, who said on Twitter that the Saudi government has granted $1 million for the iHaven feasibility study and another $1 million for President Abdulla Yameen’s priority projects.

The Saudi government also provided $20 million earlier this month as budget support.
President Yameen, upon conclusion of is state visit to Saudi Arabia in March 2015, said that Saudi Arabia had promised to provide assistance in the fields of education, military, and Islamic affairs.
Saudi Arabia has provided 150 higher education opportunities to Maldivian students, as well as 1,000 hajj slots.
