Release of Kendhoo arson suspect appealed

The release by Maalhos Magistrate Court of the man arrested on suspicion of setting fire to three vessels at Baa Kendhoo harbour, has been appealed in High Court.

Abdul Salman Yoosuf, 41, was released by the court on Thursday.

Prosecutor General’s Office Spokesperson Ahmed Hisham Wajeeh confirmed to Sun Online that the appeal case has been submitted to High Court.

The two fishing boats and a speedboat were set alight early morning on 24 April 2015.

The owners of the vessels destroyed in the fire told Sun Online earlier that the losses could reach MVR 4.3 million.
