PPM: We

Leader of the PPM’s Parliamentary Group, Ahmed Nihan has said that PPM is thinking about not taking part in the by-elections.

Speaking at the press conference held at the PPM office, Nihan said that the opposition is trying to “tire” PPM with by-elections.

He said that MDP is working to show the world that PPM wants to win every by-elections and that’s the reason the party is thinking about not taking part in by-elections.

“What happens is suddenly, a counselor resigns and sends to an election. And we work hard as one of the biggest party and the governing party wins the election. This cost a big part of our work. Meaning the money and time required for an election and people are doing it with the intention of tiring us. Meaning MDP is planning such plans as well.” Nihan said.

He said that PPM is “seriously” considering not taking part in the upcoming by-elections. And the case would be presented to the PPM council very soon.

Highlighting on local governance, Nihan said that since the local governance law was created, developments in the islands are moving at a fast pace.
