Thirteenth suspect arrested for attack on police officer

Police have arrested a thirteenth person on suspicion of attacking a police officer during the protest on 1 May.

Police said that a 30-year-old individual was arrested at around 2:00 p.m. yesterday. Sources have told Sun Online that the suspect is a man named Shinaan, from Shaviyani Goidhoo.

The twelve others arrested in relation to this case are Farhath Ali, Usman Hassan, Moosa Sharmeel, Abdulla Rasheed Mohamed, Nasira Ali, Laushan Ahmed Zahir, Ahmed Ibrahim, Ibrahim Ibad, Ibrahim Laban Rasheed, Umar Gahir, Mohamed Igbal, and a 23-year-old man.

Police have released photos of three additional suspects, and appealed for assistance in identifying them.

Police thanked the public for their assistance in identifying and locating suspects in similar cases in the past.
