MP Riyaz summoned by police

Kinbidhoo MP and former Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz has been summoned by the police.

This was announced by Riyaz on Twitter this morning.

According to the photo of the summons posted by Riyaz, police had invited him to attend Shaheed Hussain Adam Building at 9:00 p.m. today.

The summons for the purpose of an inquiry regarding an ongoing investigation, was issued by Sub-inspector of Police Mohamed Usamath of the Economic Crime Department of the Maldives Police Service.

Riyaz told Sun Online that he will attend the police headquarters as requested.

There were rumours on Friday night that police were preparing to arrest Riyaz, after they arrested President of Adhaalath Party (AP) Imran Abdulla. This was however denied by police later that night.
