Shaheem resigns as Islamic Affairs Minister

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has resigned from his post.

This was announced by him moments ago on Twitter.

Shaheem’s resignation comes after Adhaalath Party (AP) notified its members holding government posts, to resign from their posts.

This was passed with 81 percent votes in favour by AP Council, after its President Imran Abdulla was arrested in relation to a protest led by the party on 1 May.
