Cabinet meeting to be held in Thinadhoo on renaming

President’s office says that it is decided to hold a cabinet meeting in the island of Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll in order to come to a conclusion in the matter of renaming the island as per the island council has requested.

President’s press secretary Mohamed Zuhair said that the cabinet meeting regarding the renaming of Thinadhoo will be held in the island. According to him the meeting has been scheduled to 23rd of August and all the arrangements are made, but he said that an alteration in the schedule is possible since it is Ramadan.

Island council of Thinadhoo wants to restore the old name of the island after 32 years. Last month a high level delegation of the government went that island to discuss the matter with the people. Mr. Zuhair said that the office of the president has received the report of the delegation and now it is forwarded to the concerned authorities.
