Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has called to security forces that steps should be taken immediately if people go into the “To End Cruelty” protest demonstration and initiate conflict.
The HRCM press released requesting to take care with ten points called the protestors to keep their actions within the peaceful demonstration laws. And asked the security forces to ensure the safety of the protesters.
The statement also called on all the relevant parties to keep their actions from obstructing the constitutional rights of peaceful protest and freedom of expression.
The press release also asked to prioritize national peace and keep the language in a way that would noe create conflict. And asked the news medias to report the news responsibly. And no one should impede on public services and not to involve children to achieve political goals.
The statement called to security forces to keep their actions within human right laws and regulations and if case calls for use of force, the HRCM has called to use the minimum required.
