Parliament approves PSM Board

The seven members nominated by the President to the Public Service Media (PSM) Governing Board have been approved by the unanimous vote of the members present at today’s sitting of the Parliament.

Yesterday, the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions passed to approve all seven members without holding interviews.

The seven individuals nominated to the board by President Abdulla Yameen are Ibrahim Umar Manik, Ibrahim Khaleel, Mohamed Ikram Abdul Latheef, Mahmood Ali, Aminath Shayan Shahid, Ibrahim Hilmy, and Mohamed Shagil.

The Public Service Media Bill was ratified by President Yameen on Tuesday.

The new law states that efforts must begin within 30 days of it coming into effect, to constitute the PSM Governing Board and appoint senior members to the board.
