Fire at Eydhafushi harbour

Petrol barrels have caught fire at the harbour in Baa Eydhafushi.

Eydhafushi Council President Ali Waheed told Sun Online that the fire broke out at around 11:45 a.m., and no one is injured.

He said that the cause of the fire remains unclear.

The fire started from petrol barrels, said Ali Waheed, and there were also about five gas cylinders close by.

Ali Waheed said that only small boats were docked at the harbour at the time of the fire, which were immediately moved out to sea.

No property was damaged.

He further said that the fire broke out shortly after petrol and diesel barrels were unloaded from a vessel.

The fire has now been controlled.
