Saleem appointed as High Commissioner to Pakistan

President Abdulla Yameen has appointed Ahmed Saleem (Nanreethi) as the High Commissioner of the Maldives to Pakistan.

The letter of appointment was presented to Saleem at a ceremony at the President’s Office this afternoon.

The post of Maldivian High Commissioner to Pakistan became vacant in January 2015, when Major General Moosa Ali Jaleel was appointed Minister of Defence and National Security.

Saleem’s appointment as Maldivian High Commissioner to Pakistan was approved by the parliament with 53 votes in favour.

Saleem has previously served as the President of the Human Rights Commission, and has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1968.

He has held posts in the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka and the Permanent Mission of the Maldives in New York.
