Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has signed agreements with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), for harbour projects in three islands.
The islands are Haa Dhaalu Kumundhoo, Noonu Manadhoo, and Baa Eydhafushi.
The agreements were signed at a ceremony at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure this morning, by Minister of Housing and infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and CEO of MTCC Ibrahim Abdul Razzag Haleem.
The cost of the project in Kumundhoo is MVR 12.7 million, and it should be completed within 150 days.
The MVR 12.3 million project in Manadhoo and MVR 2.9 million project in Eydhafushi should be completed within 190 days and 60 days respectively.
Talking to reporters at the ceremony, Dr Muizzu said that the government prioritises developmental projects in the islands and will ensure they are completed at a fast speed.
He said that the harbour projects for which agreements were signed today, will make travel to and from the islands easier.
Haleem said that MTCC made record profit last year, and thanked the government for its support. He assured that the projects will be completed within the duration specified in the agreements.
