Elderly man found dead in sea in Milandhoo

The body of an elderly man has been found in the sea near Shaviyani Milandhoo.

The deceased has been identified as Mohamed Hassan, 80.

Details were unavailable at the time of publication, as it has not been possible to reach the island council.

Police said that a missing persons report was filed at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, and the body was found in the sea at around 12:30 a.m. on the same night.

There were no injuries, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the health centre, said police.

Mohamed Hassan was last seen near the harbour in Milandhoo around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
