Home Minister: Nasheed, Nazim, Tholhath live in an apartment

Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer has said that former President Mohamed Nasheed, former MP Ahmed Nazim, and former Minister of Defence Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, who have all been sentenced to prison, live in an apartmentsat Asseyri Prison.

Umar made this remark while speaking at a ceremony at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) this morning.

He said that the apartment has a sitting room, a kitchen, a compound, and a 20-by-30-foot bedroom.

Umar denied rumours that Nasheed, Nazim and Tholhath were being held in prison cells, and assured that former senior government officials who are under state care will be treated with respect by the government.

Nasheed and Nazim have been sentenced to 13 and ten years in prison respectively after being convicted of terrorism, and Nazim has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of misappropriation of public funds.
