Two sentenced to life in prison for murder

Two people have been convicted of the kidnapping and murder of Hassan Abubakr, Hiyfaseyhage, Noonu Maafaru, and sentenced to life in prison.

The convicts are Ahmed Naushad, G. Irufa, Malé; and Mohamed Faisal, Everlast, Laamu Isdhoo.

Hassan Abubakr was found dead on the night of 30 May 2012, with his hands tied and a pillow over his face.

The pair is said to have carried out the act at around 1:00 a.m. on 30 May 2012.

The court found them guilty of murder based on evidence presented in court, including confessions. The sentence was issued as per Article 6(a) of the Terrorism Prevention Act.
