Eight scholarships awarded under Zakat Fund

Eight scholarships have been awarded under the Zakat Fund, for medical specialist courses at Tribhuvan University in Nepal.

The scholarships were presented at a ceremony at Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 21 April 2015, by Minister of Health Ahmed Zuhoor and Minister of Education Dr Aishath Shiham.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zuhoor said that 13 more scholarships will be awarded this year for medical specialist courses abroad, and priority will be given to those who are prepared to work in islands excluding Malé.

Dr Aishath Shiham said that the government gives about 1,000 scholarships every year, and priority is given to training people in the field of medicine.
