Amin: The government couldn

The deputy leader of Jumhooree Party, Amin Ibrahim has said that after taking powers of the city council by the government individually, only the council members remain independent.

Speaking at the press conference to inform the media on “May-Day” to be held on 1 May, Amin said that after taking away the powers of the councils by the constitution, the government has taken all of the powers from Male’ City Council.

“Today, the only power not taken by the government from the city council is the members on the council. Their office is being taken. Their land. And so their work environment is gone.” Amin said.

Amin said that the government is being “cruel” without any measure and the government is also being “cruel” to merchants and individual citizens.

Speaking about the different activities of May-Day, the President of Adhaalath Party, Imran Abdulla said that their work against cruelty is within the law and so the big protest demonstration by the opposition coalition on 1 May would proceed peacefully and within the law.

“That day’s demonstration would produce results, all our activities on that day would go within the law. We will be with our courage, ambition and spirit within the law.” Imran said.

The Chairperson of MDP, Ali Waheed called upon all the citizens to take part in the opposition coalition’s work against cruelty.
