CP: In the near future,

Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed has said that in the near future, dogs of “Faaragema” would be active in all parts of the Maldives.

Speaking to the press at the ceremony held at Iskandharu Koshi to sign the agreements to aid the use dogs with four different institutes, Commissioner Waheed said that they would seek the results of taking the dogs across the sea to different islands.

“With God’s will, in the near future our “Faara” (K9 dogs) would be active in different corners of the country, in drug operations.” The Commissioner said.

In the ceremony held at Iskandharu Koshi today, Customs, Department of Immigration, Maldives Post Limited (MPL) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) signed the agreement with the Maldives Police Service.

Commissioner General of Customs Abbas Adhil represented Customs while Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Mohamed Anwar represented the Immigration. MPL was represented by their Director of the Board, Mohamed Shiyam. And MACL was represented by the Managing Director of the Company, Adhil Moosa.

After the signing, the Commissioner of Police said that objective of the agreements was to prepare for the operating zones like ports, airports, immigration. And it was a road to make that work easier.

Commissioner Waheed said that this agreement was important to make the country a drug free environment.
