Police signs MOUs with four institutes about using dogs

Police has signed MOUs of aiding in Police investigations in which the police K9 squad, “Faaragema” would be used.

In the ceremony held at Iskandharu Koshi today, Customs, Department of Immigration, Maldives Post Limited (MPL) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) signed the agreement with the Maldives Police Service.

Commissioner General of Customs Abbas Adhil represented Customs while Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Mohamed Anwar represented the Immigration. MPL was represented by their Director of the Board, Mohamed Shiyam. And MACL was represented by the Managing Director of the Company, Adhil Moosa.

Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed signed the MOUs on behalf of the Maldives Police Service.

After the signing, the Commissioner of Police said that objective of the agreements was to prepare for the operating zones like ports, airports, immigration. And it was a road to make that work easier.

Commissioner Waheed said that this agreement was important to make the country a drug free environment.

“…The MOUs we’ve signed is a very important and at this point very useful to Maldives. Due to this MOU, we are hoping that it could play a very important role in the work we’re doing to make Maldives a drug free environment.” Commissioner said.
