Dhiggaru by-election moved forward, to 6 June

Dhiggaru by-election, previously scheduled for 13 June 2015, has been moved forward to 6 June 2015.

Vice President of Elections Commission Amjad Mustafa told Sun Online that the election was moved forward to complete the process before 18 June, which is 1 Ramadan.

The second round, if necessary, will be held on 13 June, he said.

The commission has announced that individuals who wish to run for Dhiggaru seat can collect the application form from the commission from 15 to 28 April 2015, on week days between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

On non-working days, the form will be available from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the commission said.

Dhiggaru seat became vacant when former Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim was convicted of fraud and sentenced to lifetime imprisonment by Supreme Court.
