Housing Ministry: Over 15,000 applications received for flats

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has said that 15,650 parties have applied for flats under the government’s housing project in Hulhumalé.

This includes 7,384 applications for Category 1; 8,241 for Category 2; and 3 for Category 3.

The ministry said that 440 flats will be constructed in Category 1, for people registered in Malé; 330 flats will be constructed in Category 2, for people from other islands who have lived in Malé for long durations; and 330 flats will be constructed in Category 3, for people who already own some land but need more space.

Minister of State for Housing Hassan Rasheed said some time ago, that ministry officials will visit the houses of people who submit applications, to confirm the validity of the information provided.
