Baby found in sea yesterday, buried

The baby’s body found in a can in the sea near the Youth Centre in Malé yesterday, has been buried.

The police spokesperson said that it was buried yesterday night, after necessary checks were performed by doctors.

The baby was a boy and had died six months into the pregnancy, and further details will be revealed after the doctor’s report, said police.

The incident was reported by two siblings swimming in the area on Monday, 13 April 2015. The baby was in a milk powder can, with the lid on.

The siblings said that they removed the can from the water and decided to check inside, because it was heavy.
