Ziyad found innocent of terrorism

The former Colonel of MNDF, Mohamed Ziyad who was charged with terrorism for his involvement in the unlawful arrest of the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Abdulla Mohamed, has been found innocent.

The three judges on the panel agreed last night that Ziyad acted accordingly for a man in his position. And he did not intend on committing a crime.

While the verdict on Ziyad has been innocent on the charge of terrorism, the former Chief of Defence Force and the current Minister of Defence, Moosa Ali Jaleel has also been found innocent.

However, the former president, Mohamed Nasheed and the former Minister of Defence, Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu has been found guilty of terrorism in the arrest of Judge Abdulla Mohamed. President Nasheed has been sentenced to 13 years in prison and Tholhath has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
