Fenaka Corporation has decided not to impose any fine on businesses if electricity bills for last month are paid by the end of this month.
Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Nimal told Sun Online that the purpose is to make things easier for business owners, following the sudden increase due to the cessation of the electricity subsidy.
Business owners in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, Addu City, and several other locations protested and temporarily closed their shops following the increase.
Director of Fenaka Corporation Hussain Rameez told Sun Online on Monday that no changes have been made to electricity prices.
The prices used today were determined by the government of former President Mohamed Nasheed, he said, and efforts are ongoing to establish a fair subsidy system for all islands.
