The Criminal Court has postponed the hearings for delivering verdicts against Minister of Defence Moosa Ali Jaleel, former Minister of Defence Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, and Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Ziyad, for a second time, for the terrorism charges pressed against them by the State.
A Criminal Court official has confirmed to Sun Online that the hearings scheduled for tonight have been cancelled, but did not given a reason for the cancellations.
The hearing for the case against Tholhath was scheduled for 8:00 p.m., Jaleel for 9:00 p.m., and Ziyad for 10:00 p.m.
The hearings were also scheduled for 27 March, and cancelled.
The trial against former Malé Area Commander of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, on the same charges, is still ongoing.
Ibrahim Mohamed Didi’s trial is extended due to him being abroad for medical treatment.
Criminal Court, on 13 March 2015, sentenced former President Mohamed Nasheed to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges, for ordering the arrest of the judge in January 2012.
