Jabir leaves MDP

The MP for the Kaashidhoo constituents and the Chairman of Yacht Tours, Abdulla Jabir has left MDP.

In his letter of the Chairperson of MDP, Ali Waheed, Jabir said that he wants to leave the party because he no longer wants to be part of it and asked to remove his name from the party’s member list.

Jabir responded to Sun Media when asked as to why he left MDP, he said that he is still Abdulla Jabir and he will be supporting the government of President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom.

“My letter has been delivered. From now on, I’m not member of MDP. I’ll remain as Abdulla Jabir. I’ll support the government of President Yamin.” Jabir said.

Jabir said that MDP or otherwise, everyone should work for the peace of the country and boycotting tourism is not something he believes in.

“We don’t have to go where the identity of our party is lost. We don’t want our tourism, to which our entire income is based on to fail. I have invested in the Maldives. Boycotting tourism and these things are not something I believed in at any point.” Jabir said.

The MP said that he supports the economic policies of President Yamin and he does not believe in “changing the government twice daily”.

“And President Abdulla Yamin is someone who knows how to do it well. And I have always supported is economic policies. I also know the President closely. He is not someone who would do the bad things they say. He is working to bring good things, to develop the country like Singapore.” Jabir added.

MP Jabir won the chair for the Kaashidhoo in the last by-election of the parliament on Jumhooree Party’s ticket. And he joined MDP afterwards.
